Luminist painter, I am a nomad who travels insatiable in the paradoxical world of light and dark. I exist for light. Since the beginning of my career my artistic quest has been based on this multi-faceted energy and art which models my life. Four years ago my research was redirected by a new emotion and since I have worked on ephemeral effects, reflections created by light passing through stained glass in certain religious buildings. Shimmering old paving stones painted by fleeting sunlight appear on my canvas and I tell their stories that I call my "reflexions" (the word in the French language means ‘thoughts”) is the term that refers to the source my inspiration and summarizes the result of my work. For it is the ineffable feeling that touches me in these places that inspire peace and a spiritual quest that lead me gradually to try to go in search of my inner light. I dedicate my work to the results of my emotions. I consider that my words are to figuration as my feelings are to abstraction. Led by emotion inspired by light and what it offers in sacred expression to my feelings; this is my vision Mary Chaplin All works and texts are protected © Adag, reproduction is forbidden. |
